SOCIAL NETWORKING FOR A CAUSE

"Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same. Until Monday (Dec .6) there should be no human faces on facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is for VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN..."

For the past weeks of November, above text have been circulating all over facebook.

Almost everybody have changed their profile pictures a week after.

From the vanity to animé, social networking sites such as facebook has been continually transformed, as of this writing, into a colorful parade of childhood recollection.

I actually even changed my profile pic as well. But have you ever wondered where this kind of craze originated? Ever thought this is some kind of a trick or a joke perhaps? Then you should watch this and think again.

According to sources, however, "origins of this campaign remain a mystery, as it doesn’t seem to be affiliated with any official organization. And not that you need to limit child abuse awareness to a certain time of year, but, at least in the U.S.,National Child Abuse Prevention Month isn’t until April."

Despite of that fact, I still am cooperating. Because I am not just uploading some lame pictures, placing some nonsense comments such as "hehe", or wasting my time playing farmville, I am doing this to send a message to everyone that violence towards children is real and it is happening all around us around the world.

Over 3 million children are reported to be mistreated or abused each year. Each child, whether experiencing neglect, injury or violence, is profoundly altered as a result. Emotional, physical, social and behavioral problems are all likely for the child exposed to violence.

I believe no child really deserves this.

Imagine what kind of people this children would become in the future. Serial killers? Mad addicts? Suicide bombers? An annoying officemate? Yes! That can be possible. What made him annoying may be caused by his miserable past. That would best explains also the antagonists of our lives. Perhaps they are all abused, we might not know.

So, this is your chance. Let your voice be heard and change your profile pic now!
